Blue Vinyl
8min. looped audio, recessed speakers, vinyl, foam, plywood, iris prints 2001

Blue Vinyl consists of sound, architecture, and five iris prints. A blue vinyl love-seat serves as a ground or backdrop for an exploration of intimate play. Pulling taffy while inhabiting the love-seat is the source of the video recording from which the iris prints are generated. The stills are stretched, reduced, and re-positioned in an attempt to locate a two dimensional reference to private space. The sound emanating from the padded interior suggests an alluring, almost-recognizable activity.
